Relocating
overseas? If you are selecting an international
moving company make sure that the intl. carrier you
choose is licensed and has both a Federal Maritime Commission
(FMC number) and a Freight Forwarders Permit (FF-number)
issued by the Federal Highway Commission.
It is also important to insure your belongings, the general
liability is not enough to cover the real value of your
shipment and can as low as 60 cents per pound per item,
that means that your items are insured based on their
weight only, therefore your should consider
purchasing optional full replacement coverage from your
international mover which is usually $20-$40 for each
$1000 of coverage purchased.
Do not ship valuable items and important documents - prepare
a box or a bag to carry with you.
