Advanced Charges - these are charges for services provided by someone other than the mover, like a professional, craftsman, or any other third party that may perform these services at your request. The mover pays for these services and adds the charges to your bill of lading. |

Assessed Value - The amount of money paid per $1000 of assessed value to cover the household items to their value. |

Bill of Lading - The receipt for goods and the contract for transportating your goods. You must read and fully understand and agree to the bill of lading - it is also very important to keep a copy of it

Binding / Non Binding Estimate - A binding estimate is an agrement made in advance - a flat rate the mover quoted regardless of how long the move takes (or how big is the move). Flat rates are usually provided after a visual on-site estimate by the mover. A non Binding estimate is an initial quote based on the mover's experience - and it's most likly to change based on the actual size of the move or the time it takes. |

Broker - A company that manages the truck transportation of cargo, using carriers to provide the actual truck transportation. A broker is not responsible for the cargo nor takes possession of the cargo. |

Carrier - The moving company transporting the household goods. |

Cash on Delivery - COD - the term COD is ues when payment is required at the destination location. |

|
Expedited Service - Based on special rate, the mover agrees to commit for a set date for transportation of the goods. |

Flight Charge - charges for carrying items up or down flights of stairs. These services may be charged an additional amount to the line haul charges. |

Force Majeure - A defense protecting the parties in the event that a part of the contract cannot
be performed due to causes which are outside the control of the parties and
could not be avoided by exercise of due care. |
